About Our Business
Four Seasons was originally started as a retirement
business in 1989 by my father Neil Vogelsang, who
had retired from Carrier Corporation after 37 years
as an manufacturing engineer.
In 1996 dad had gotten into a car accident and had
some serious injuries. After he got his new van (the
other one was totalled) the phone calls were still
coming in for chimney cleanings, so he asked me if I
wanted to earn some extra money. Two or three
days a week and some Saturdays after working at
my construction business, we would get together
and do a couple of cleanings before it got dark out.
He had taught me what to look for as far as
clearances, codes,cracks in flue tiles or damage in
prefab chimneys and, of course, how to clean
chimneys. The codes we went by and still go by
today are NFPA 211 Standards For Chimneys,
Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel-burning
Appliances.
So in June of 2000 after 12 years cleaning and
inspecting chimneys, dad decided to retire again
and sold me the business.
